Project Description

Melwood has relevant experience assisting the public relations needs of education programs focused on science and technology. In 2011, Melwood was hired by the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) to raise awareness of a software platform called “ASSISTments,” which guides elementary school students toward more critical thinking in their math homework, helps teachers be more efficient with their time by focusing on the areas in which the students are struggling, and increases parental involvement with their children’s education. Our work led to numerous articles on this, including the lead story for the New York Times Magazine’s 2012 “Education Issue.” Our coverage prompted hundreds of schools to begin using ASSISTments and led to hundreds of thousands of dollars in research grants.
