Project Description

Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh has proposed that the city assist parents of all school children to attend the highest quality school closest to home and, as part of that effort, suggested the city consider joining the few other cities which have aligned enrollment of district schools and public charter schools operating in the city. The Boston Compact is the realization of those collaborative efforts, led by the Mayor’s Chief of Education along with leaders from Boston Public Schools, the Boston Charter School Association and the Boston Archdiocese schools. Melwood has served as the strategic communications adviser to all these entities throughout this highly-controversial period, creating a detailed public communications and engagement plan, organizing and managing a series of citywide public meetings on the proposal as well as all media and other strategic communications.
